The John F. Kennedy, a 2008 half-dollar coin from the United States.

His Inaugural Address offered the memorable injunction: "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country." As President, John Fitzgerald Kennedy set out to redeem his campaign pledge to get America moving again. His economic programs launched the country on its longest sustained expansion since World War II; before his death, he laid plans for a massive assault on persisting pockets of privation and poverty. On November 22, 1963, when he was hardly past his first thousand days in office, John F. Kennedy was killed by an assassin's bullets as his motorcade wound through Dallas, Texas. Kennedy was the youngest man elected President; he was the youngest to die.

The half-dollar featuring President John F. Kennedy has been minted since February 1964.

The reverse shows a heraldic eagle with shield, reminiscent of the Great Seal of the United States.

Includes one coin from the Denver Mint, and one coin from the Philadelphia Mint.
