This 2008 10 euro gold proof coin celebrates the 150th anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin Mary to Bernadette Soubirous, a major event for the entire Catholic community.

This beautiful coin recalls the 18 apparitions that are said to have taken place between February and July 1858, as well as the visits to Lourdes, of two popes in the last 25 years. Monnaie de Paris marks this celebration by an international first: bringing together the effigy of Pope John-Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI on the same coin.

The reverse features a representation of the sanctuary of Notre Dame of Lourdes. The obverse features 4 quarters, separated in the shape of the cross: the face value, Pope John-Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Bernadette Soubirous.

Includes Capsule, Official Case and Individually-Numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
