The coin’s reverse portrays two young people observing a colored representation of the night sky with a telescope. The beautiful design includes a stylized depiction of the Southern Cross constellation, the inscription INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF ASTRONOMY 2009, as well as the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
