The Felix Mendelssohn 200th Anniversary, a 2009 silver proof coin from Australia.

Issued by the Perth Mint as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, this 2009 silver proof coin celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Felix Mendelssohn, one of the most gifted composers of all time. Born in Hamburg, Germany, Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) created such masterpieces as Fingal's Cave, the Scottish Symphony, the Italian Symphony and the Wedding March from the incidental music for A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The coin’s reverse shows a representation of Felix Mendelssohn, a large treble clef, music notes, and the inscription ‘Felix Mendelssohn 1809 – 1847’. The coin’s obverse depicts Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Perth Mint’s distinctive ‘P’ mintmark, the face value, and the year of issue.
