The Turtle Dreaming Coin, a 2009 rectangular pure silver dollar coin from Australia.

The Perth Mint celebrates Australian Indigenous art, the oldest ongoing tradition of art in the world, with this 2009 silver coin featuring a turtle.

The Australian Indigenous art portrayed on the coin's reverse represents the knowledge of the buyungura hunter. Created by Darryl Bellotti, an Indigenous artist of both Yamatji and Nyoongar descent, its dots represent the hunter's footprints along the path; the ringed-circles symbolize the location where he stops to hunt.

This year's design is actually a 'reverse frosting' image of the 2008 coin, and without the shimmering background. The coin's obverse bears an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue, the face value, and the silver content and purity.
