This colored circulation coin features the powerful symbol of remembrance in vibrant color. Ninety years after the armistice of the First World War, the humble poppy endures as a powerful symbol to honor our veterans—past, present and future.

The First World War was to be the "war to end all wars." Never before had the world seen the destruction that airplanes, tanks and submarines could bring. Never before had it witnessed the ravages of trench warfare—the terrible artillery fire, sweeping machine guns and lethal poison gas. Over 65 million soldiers from around the world went into battle. Historians estimate up to 10 million lost their lives while 20 million were wounded. Today, as the world pays tribute to the last surviving veterans, these coins will forever honor the memory of all who served—lest we forget.
