The 2008 Silver Koala is the second coin in a series of iconic Perth Mint releases depicting Australia’s most endearing marsupial. Scheduled for release each year with a new design featuring a cuddly koala, this stunning series is designed to appeal to investors, collectors and gift buyers. It features an adorable image of a mother and baby koala sitting on a tree branch, in front of a ‘shimmer’ background (developed exclusively by The Perth Mint).

The koala is an herbivore marsupial native to Australia. It lives almost entirely on eucalyptus leaves and sleeps about 20 hours a day.
