The 2007 Rugby World Cup, a 1.5 euro silver proof coin from France.

For the first time since its inauguration, the Rugby World Cup will take place in France in 2007. The French Mint is celebrating this sports event with a 1.5 euro silver proof coin.

This World Cup will have 20 nations contesting 48 matches over 44 days. Forty-two matches will be spread between 10 French cities, with four matches to be held in Cardiff, Wales and two matches in Edinburgh, Scotland. More than 6,000 volunteers will help organize the competition that will take place at the same venues as those used for the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

France won the right to host the 2007 Rugby World Cup back in 2004. Over 90 nations participated in the regional qualifying competitions.
