The 100th Anniversary of Australia’s Numismatic History, a 2010 silver proof coin from Australia.

The Royal Australian Mint celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the introduction of coinage issued in the name of the Commonwealth of Australia with this 2010 silver proof coin featuring the four monarchs that have appeared on Australian coinage from 1910 to 2010.

The first coins to be issued in 1910 were the three pence, sixpence, shilling and florin, with the penny and half penny released the following year. Alongside the new government and constitution, these new coins heralded the unity and budding independence of this young nation. The coin design features effigies of the following monarchs, from left to right: Queen Elizabeth II, King George VI, King George V, and King Edward VII.
