The Maltese Cross, a 2008 uncirculated 2 euro coin from Malta.

This 2 euro coin shows the emblem used by the Sovereign Order of Malta. During the Order’s rule over Malta, between 1530 and 1798, the eight-pointed cross became associated with the island and is now often referred to as the Maltese Cross.

With Cyprus and Malta adopting the euro on January 1st 2008, 15 countries now use the euro as their currency.
