Description Technical Information

The Claude Monet, a 5 euro silver coin from France.

We're currently out of stock.

The French Mint celebrates the Impressionist movement with this 2009 5 euro silver coin featuring both Claude Monet and one of his famous paintings, Le bassin aux nymphéas, harmonie rose (Water Lily basin, pink harmony), painted in 1900, and now housed at the musée d'Orsay, the Impressionist museum in Paris. Monet (1840-1926) grew white water lilies in the water garden he had installed in his property at Giverny in 1893. From the 1910s until he died in 1926, the garden and its pond in particular, became the artist's sole source of inspiration.

This rectangular coin is the third in the Artists series issued by the French Mint. The obverse features a representation of the painting, the date of its creation, and the signature of the artist.

Includes Capsule, Official Case and Individually-Numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
