One of the most famous depictions of the goddess of victory is the Hellenistic masterpiece known as the Nike of Samothrace. The zloty is the traditional Polish currency unit introduced during the Middle Ages. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the name "zloty" was used for all kinds of foreign golden coins used in Poland, most notably German and Ruthenian ducats.
