History of the Zloty - The 1932 10 Zloty Coin
Part of the History of the Zloty Series, this 2006 silver proof coin celebrates the 1932 10 Zloty Coin.
Reverse: On the left, along the rim, "DZIEJE ZLOTEGO" (History of the Zloty). In the center, an exact reproduction of the reverse of the 10 z coin from 1932, featuring a polish woman wearing a traditional headdress. At the bottom, along the rim, stylised images of four peacock feathers.
Obverse: Along the rim, on top, "RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKAA" for Republic of Poland, and an image of the eagle, the state emblem of the Republic of Poland. Under the Eagle’s left foot, the Mint mark. In the center, an exact reproduction of the obverse of the 10 z coin from 1932. In the background, a view of the headquarters of the National Bank of Poland in Warsaw. On the right, the year of issue, and at the bottom, the face value.
The zloty is the traditional Polish currency unit introduced during the Middle Ages. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the name "zloty" was used for all kinds of foreign golden coins used in Poland, most notably German and Ruthenian ducats.
