Reverse: On top, along the rim: “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity”. In the center, a stylized map of France composed of fragments of various monuments, with RF for “French Republic” and the year of issue on the left, and the face value on the right. At the bottom, the inscription “LES MONUMENTS DE FRANCE”.

The Pont Neuf (New Bridge) was completed during the reign of Henri IV, in 1607. It is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine. The total length of the bridge is 912 feet long, 92 feet wide.

The Pont Neuf was the first stone bridge in Paris without houses, and was fitted with pavement protecting pedestrians from mud and horses. The bridge had heavy traffic from the beginning, and it was for a long time the widest bridge in Paris. Even now, after 400 years, the original wooden pilings which support the foundations still remain.
