Between 1405 and 1433, Zheng He made 7 voyages with his royal fleets of some 100 ships and 28,000 people to over 30 countries and territories in Asia and Africa. Zheng He and his fleet visited Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka and India during the first voyage from 1405 to 1407, and returned with diplomats from some countries and traded goods. From 1413 to 1415, on the fourth voyage, the coast of east Africa was reached. His seventh voyage began in 1431 and ended in 1433, and involved nearly 20 Asian and African countries. This feat was a landmark in China's international relations and a ground-breaking record in maritime history. It was a unique armada in the history of China -and the world- not to be surpassed until the invasion fleets of World War I sailed the seas.
