The National Bank of Poland commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Joseph Conrad with this 2007 silver proof 10 Zloty coin with a beautiful holographic ship.
Reverse: In the center, under the clouds, the Otago, the ship Conrad commanded as a master mariner, and its reflection in the water highlighted by a beautiful hologram.
Obverse: Along the rim on the left, "RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA" for Republic of Poland. In the center, Joseph Conrad, the inscription "KONRAD KORZENIOWSKI 1857-1924", and his signature. At the bottom, an image of the eagle, the state emblem of the Republic of Poland. Under the Eagle’s left foot, the Mint mark. On the right, the face value and the year of issue.
Jósef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski (1857-1924) was a Polish-born English novelist and short-story writer. Among Conrad's best-known works are LORD JIM (1900), HEART OF DARKNESS (1902), and NOSTROMO (1904).
