Stuck by the Perth Mint from 1/25oz of 99.99% pure gold, this 2008 gold proof coin honors the Maneki Neko, or lucky Waving Cat.

Reverse: Along the rim on top, "1/25oz 9999 GOLD". In the center, a Lucky Waving Cat with its left paw raised and a red heart. Along the rim at the bottom, the face value.


Obverse: Along the rim on the left, "QUEEN ELIZABETH II". In the center, the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Along the rim on the right, "TUVALU" and the year of issue.


The popular Maneki Neko figurine is believed to bring good luck to homes and businesses. It is believed that Maneki Neko, or "Beckoning Cat", first appeared during the later part of the Edo period (1603-1867) in Japan. A Maneki Neko with a raised left paw attracts customers, friendship and love.
