The Royal Canadian Mint celebrates the 100th anniversary of the publication of the first novel in the Anne of Green Gables series with this 2008 25-cent coin.

In 1908, the world was captivated by Anne of Green Gables, a wonderful story by Lucy Maud Montgomery that recounts the childhood adventures of a spirited, red-haired orphan named Anne Shirley. This oversized nickel-plated steel coin features a portrait of Anne Shirley by accomplished illustrator Ben Stahl.
