The Lucky Loonie, a 2006 Commemorative 1 dollar coin from Canada.

The Royal Canadian Mint created this Lucky Loonie to celebrate a Canadian Olympic story and to wish all the Canadian athletes the very best of luck for the 2006 Olympics in Torino.

At the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002, a loonie brought a stroke of good fortune to Canada when our men's and women's hockey teams skated to victory over a Lucky Loonie buried secretly beneath centre ice.
